Church Street: St Mary's Church (view 1)
An interesting earl c.1910 view of St Mary's taken in the winter months. Note the wrought iron railings surrounding the old churchyard and notice board at the corner. Although only sparse in number, the people captured by the photographer certainly add interest: the small boy, the man with the wheel barrow, for example. The east end of the church can be seen behind the notice board, towards the right of the image; and the west end tower is a prominent feature. Also see E.G.Tasker's 'Barnsley Streets': vol 1: pp52-3.
