Church Street: Newman & Bond solicitors

Image

Nos 31-33 Church Street on 1961, then occupied by Smith & Ibbeson solicitors but well known previously as the offices of Newman & Bond (solicitors), here from 1892 and occupied by E,Newman from 1830. This building of 3 bays and 3 storeys was always a distinctive part of the street and had an exceptionally long window to its north side. Several other legal firms used the premisses in recent years including Bury & Walker. See E.G.Tasker's 'Barnsley Streets': vol 1, p.26.
