Eldon Street (S.side) : Royal Oak Hotel yard (view 1)

Image

This early composite photograph of the Royal Oak Hotel yard (No. 9) dates from around 1910. Also in view is Hepworth's 'shoeing' forge, which streched from Eldon to Queen's Street. This was of great importance for all the horses that were used at the time for transport purposes. See 'Barnsley Streets' (V.4), pp.94-96
