Market Hill : W.side: Reynolds & Wadsworth – Cheesman's
Another excellent postcard image by Lamb, this time, c.1910, focussing on the lower west side of the street, where prominent buildings in the picture and businesses include Reynolds & Wadsworth's extensive ironmongery (15-17), Charlesworth's butcher's/grocer's (13), Pollitt's confectioners/butchers (11/11a), Mclintock's furnishers (9), Old Number Seven public House (7), the London Joint Stock Bank (later Midland Bank) (5) and Cheesman's printers (3). Horse and carts are clearly important for deliveries at this time, and a small assembly of people look across to the photographer who would have taken some time to set up his equipment for this image.
