Image

The building next to the Midland Bank (number 3) , a little higher up the hill, was used by a succession of printers for many years, noyably Cheesman's. Next door at Number 1 was a confectioner's, Goodworths, here from 1907-1990. At the corner with Shambles Street stood Exchange Buildings, the lower part facing Market Hill occupied by Zuckers (dry cleaners) and the rest the by Halifax Building Society. This image dates from about 1960.
