The east side of Market Hill, just in view on the upper left of the image is J.W. Moorhouse (chemist, but now owned/occupied by Rock, number 12), then Elstone's (tobacconist, 14, trading here from 1857-1990, one of the oldest and most continuous businesses from one site in Barnsley); WH Smiths (number 16, later Pollyanna) and the Hagenbach's (cafe, 18, here from the 1930s to 1960s), located at the top of the Arcade, across from Guest's (grocers).
