New Street (view 10) (Guest's: 1)

Image

John Guest's pawnbrokers and clothing store was a prominent building at the New Street junction with Baker Street, extending to three storeys and five bays of frontage, providing plenty of space for displays and advertising. Established in the 1870s, Guest's continued until 1959. The men chatting by the hand cart add interest to the scene, not bothered by any traffic.
