New Street (view 58) (shops 11-15)

Image

At number 9 (prior to rebuilding in 1961) stood G.King & Sons fishmonger's shop. The sign also shows that rabbits were also sold here. This business dates from 1898 and the previous occupant, Fogg, was a fishmonger as early as 1860. Higher up the street and next to King's was Schofield's confectioners shop, two ladies chatting outside the building. And just in shot is the Brighter Homes wallpaper shop (no.15).
