Another view of the Marquis of Granby pub (also see EGT012M), this image showing remains of demolished workers' houses on Thomas Street. The sandstone/gritstone stone facade of the inn can be seen through the whitewashed frontage of the building. Notice the sloping land here and some evidence of cellars below what may have been the publican's house. George Swift was publican here in the 1930s.
