Barnsley Arcade : North side : Raynor's

Image

Raynor's Cafe viewed from the Eldon Street entrance of Barnsley Arcade in the 1960s: Raynor functioned from the early 1900s right through to 1973; confectionery goods can be seen in the window and the cafe has seating upstairs; it's oval-shaped pies were a popular treat for many years. The cafe tradition continued via Davy's Bakers and Hagenbachs, through to 1989. See E.G.Tasker's 'Barnsley Streets': Vol 4, p.117-19. Behind the cafe part of the side of the public/civic hall is just visible.
