The 'Mothercare' store was one of the first 'chain stores' and national brands to establish itself in the Arcade, trading for a generation of families, from 1965 (afer rebuilding) to 1995. It succeeded Pearl's Prams, which itelf had been in business from the 1930s. See E.G. Tasker's 'Barnsley Streets': Vol 4, p114-15.
