Queen Street: (view 2)

Image

Queen Street is decked with triumphant décor in celebration of Queen Victoria become Empress of India in 1874. This view is taken from Cheapside looking towards the bottom of Market Hill. A small boy can be seen leaning against George Rose's ('seeds') shop. Rose was here from 1867 to 1896. A few distant figures appear blurred, the camera unable to cope well with movement at this time.
