Queen Street/Eldon Street (corner) (view 1)
Composite (2 images joined) view of junction of Eldon Street (left) and Queen Street (right) on a quiet day in c.1905. The stone-setted road surfaces appear prominent. This corner was rebuilt in about 1930 when the Montagu Burton building was erected. Nash's chemist's shop stood on the Quuen Street corner and next door was Mason's the jeweller and watchmaker. On the Eldon Street (south) corner stood Batley's fruiterers and Coe's (and then Staples/Cliff's) fishmongers. This was always a prime spot, a busy corner of town.
