Queen Street/Eldon Street (corner) (view 2)

Image

An early (c.1900) view of the corner of Queen Street (right) and Eldon Street (left) featuring Mason's jeweller's shop. John Mason was here from 1886-1910. The shop standing on the corner/adjacent to Eldon Street is E.Nash, the chemist. Nash is advertising numerous health products including 'chest tonic'. Patent medicines were big business then, as most ordinary people could not afford a doctor.
