Peel Square (9) North side : Raynor & Co

Image

The impressive frontage of Raynor & Co's print works and stationer's was located at number 1 Peel Street/Peel Square. The window is packed with sale items and advertising, among them many postcards of Barnsley and district. If you were inclined to art then it was the place to buy your drawing and painting materials too. The business was here for a short period, from 1902-1909, succeeded by Walter Neal, another well known printer who statyed on the site from 1910 to 1935, though Neal's had occupied these premises earlier, just before Raynor's had taken over.
