May Day Green: shoe shine boy near Market Inn

Another splendid image (c.1900) capturing a small part of the hustle, bustle and trade of a corner of May Day Green, close to the Market Inn. A shoe shine lad attends to a customer in very close proximity to a passing horse and cart, whilst in the background a small group of men have a chat. Notice the wide pavement here and the 'cobbled' (stone-setted) road surface.
