Cheapside/May Day Green: tramway (view 1)

A tram moves purposefully towards the photographer along Cheapside, May Day Green in the background. This image dates from the early 1900s and was issued as a popular Edwardian postcard. It was a busy street, as can be seen by the number of shoppers etc but a small group find time to have a chat close to the approaching tram.
