This view, probably from the 1960s, was taken from across what was then waste/clearance land, looking across towards the Temperance Hall. This building with its classical frontage dates from 1836. a newsagent's shop (Haywood's) and a Cafe (Short/Brady's) can be seen in the block below to the Hall.
