Racecommon Road West : Longcar Inn

Image

A Barnsley Brewery house, the Longcar Inn was another prominent public house established in this area during Victorian times. Like the Shaw Inn it was of considerable size but the frontage also had the benefit of classical-style features, particularly around the front entrance and at roof level which had triangular pediments. Ashlar facing at the front also added distinctiveness to the building. Georeg Weston and Colin Jackson were landlords in the 1960s and early 70s.
