Cheapside: BBCS outfitters

Image

Cheapside was always a high-profile 'parade' of quality shops and included the BB Co-operative's drapery emporium at Nos 21 and 21; and next door stood the Globe Tea Company, one of the early 'chain stores' (here from 1877-1955). This view may date from about 1930. The Co-op's drapery business functioned from about 1928 to 1960.
