New Street (view 2) (royal commemoration)

Image

Royal commemorative/celebratory flags and bunting can be seen draped from buildings and strung across lower New Street, probably relating to the coronation in 1910. The Duke of York hotel is just in shot, on the lower left side of the image and there's plenty of other interest thanks to the photographer no doubt encouraging a small assembly of people (and a couple of dogs!). Notice the well-stocked shops on the left, New Street now having become one of the main shopping and business streets of Barnsley.
