Sheffield Road (East side) : Clarks & 138-146

Closed/empty shops are a feature of many 21st century towns but certainly existed in earlier periods as this image, dating from about 1967, shows. The Clarks shop at 140 was once a busy confectioners. The neighbouring properties have a rather sad appearance but were revamped during the 1990s.
