Sheffield Road (West side) : Newton's/Brown Cow pub

Norman Newton's tobacconist's shop functioned from this site from 1931 to 1959 but was housed in the old Brown Cow public house, which had lost its licence in 1868. Old signage relating to the pub can be clearly seen, including a large poster over the entrance doorway.
