Number 2 Summer Lane in 1964 was occupied as one of the Barnsley British Coop's town branches. The double-fronted shop was located on the bend overlooking Townend and was noted for its cosmetics, sweets amd tobaccor; and also appears to have sold film, according to the displayed Ilford advert. The shop to the left of the image, a butcher's, was numbered as part of Dodworth Road.
