Summer Lane (west side) : 4-8 : Brailsford, Coombes, Staples

J.H. Brailsford (tailor) occupied number 4 and next door at number 6 was Coombes' show shop. Brailsfords functioned from 1910 to 1973; Coombes from 1911 to 1965. This image dates from 1964. The fishmonger's, Staples, at 8, were also long-established, in business from 1924 to 1980. Just in view are 2/3 other small shops: Parks tobacconist's (10),and McBride wallpaper& paints (12 & 14).
