Summer Lane (west side) : Qualter & Smith

Amongst the engineering companies established in the area were Qualters and Smith Bros (cf Qualter Hall), here from at least 1900. Their modern offices is pictured in about 1960, with convenient parking on the frontage. Engineering activities appears to have been present about here and nearby from pre-Victorian times.
