Summer Lane (west side) : Grand houses (2)

Image

A later, twentieth-century (c.1970) view of the houses featured in the previous image. The buildings clearly have undergone improvements and additions, part of a gentrification process in keeping with the period, the building now apparently used for more official purposes rather than residential – note 'SJAB' inscribed on the dustbin, perhaps standing for St John's Ambulance Brigade; also look carefully and you may spot a resident dog in the garden, almost lost in the long grass.
