Wellington Street (west side) : Yorks Evening Post

Image

Offices of the Yorkshire Evening Post occupied premises 1-3, close to Chennell's Bar, from 1934-1971. Photographs of local interest and public notices can be seen displayed in the windows. Next door, at number 5, was the Haberdashery shop 'Needlecrafts', 1976-1982, but previously functioning as a fishing tackle shop. Many will still remember getting fishing gear and bait from Bielby's and Tony Briggs.
