Queen Street: (south) Brady's confectioners

Image

Brady's at number 1 Queen Street, a prime spot for a business selling fine quality goods such as chocolate and confectionery; and also one inviting custom upstairs to the Mikado cafe and lunchion rooms. The high status of this building is reflected in its Venetian or Palladian window, with its arched central light at the cafe level. Bradys functioned here from the 1860s through to 1912. This image c.1900. The double-fronted shop front with a central doorway further emphasises its status. The building faces Market Hill and is adjacent to Market Street, it's reconstructed form visible today.
