The Gas Nook: Wire Trellis Hotel: 1960s

Image

The Wire Trellis Hotel closed in about 1968, so this may well have been one of the last views, a more modern appearance compared with its earlier form (see EGT085). The building or at least its predecesor dated back to the at least 1818; and the name probably links to Barnsley's former status as a place for metal work, especially the making of fine wire.
